New Deworming Program

In February of 2009 in partnership with the Maua Methodist Hospital and with funds from MFL and partner churches, we were able to deworm over 7,500 children at a several schools.  The cost of this program is about $1,000 or about 10 cents per child and needs to be done every 6 months.  After the results of the deworming events became evident, parents and children from other schools begged the leaders for similar treatment at their schools.
Some friends were having lunch and began to discuss ways we might expand the program to be able to include more children.  With some “free thinking” someone said that it would be great if we could connect deworming with Gummi Worms® since children consume a lot of them.  The end result is that we are now offering this program and would like you to join with us to make a difference in the lives of these children.

We are asking that you join in this effort to make a material difference in the lives of many, many school children in the Maua area of Kenya.

Here is what we would like you to do:
  • Commit to purchase at least 200 bags of Gummi Worms® which will be the basis of a fun project for the children and youth as well as the adults of your church.

  • Sell each bag of Gummi Worms® for $1.00.  The proceeds will provide deworming medicine for 1,400 children.

  • If necessary, we will ship them to you on consignment and you can pay us the $200 up to 30 days later.
Here is what we will do to help you with this project:
  • Provide you with 200+ packages of Gummi Worms that were packaged by Kenya Partner Ministries and some sweet grandma’s and others from Wesley Memorial UMC in High Point.

  • The package will be sent to you via UPS.

  • We will give you a CD with pictures of the children from the area in Kenya where the deworming takes place.

  • Included are pictures of the actual deworming that was done in Kenya in 2009.

  • Thanks to the Children's Ministry team at First United Methodist Church in Wichita, KS, we will include a lesson plan on the CD. Thanks to this team.

  • A video with pictures of the area which will explain in greater detail the food shortage due to ongoing droughts and why this program is necessary.
